Barcelona Valley Golf Club's Lake Course (formerly St. Andrews 2000) is one of Thailand's most distinctive championship layouts, renowned for its dramatic elevation changes and memorable risk-and-reward holes. Originally designed to challenge even the longest hitters, the course has been refined to offer a more enjoyable experience while retaining its spectacular character. Set amidst rolling countryside and scenic lakes, it delivers an unforgettable round for golfers seeking both challenge and breathtaking views.

This course requires both power and accuracy to score well and even the lower handicappers will find it quite challenging with the cleverly placed water hazards, numerous fairways bunkers, elevated tees and greens and split level fairways.

Some would say the course is a bit “gimmicky”, especially the two 800 yards par 6’s but this is a remarkable course with some very special design touches. The 15th is a good example as you play from a 3-tiered tee box, with great views all around, towards an unusual split-level fairway and beware of the rocky outcrop on 18 which can send your ball in any direction if you are unfortunate enough to hit it.

You will probably need every club in your bag, even those long irons you hate, as you need to be very accurate to navigate the many hazards. Even if you don’t score as well as you would like this course will leave a lasting impression and plenty of anecdotes to share with your friends.

This course is very popular so it will be crowded at weekends and public holidays so you should expect some delays.

Exceeded Expectations

I really enjoyed the layout of this course. I was expecting a more pedestrian design, but there aren't many similar holes. The Par 6 holes definitely add some character. Course condition was excellent too. The greens may look rather spotty, but they rolled smooth. Caddies were helpful and diligent. Pace of play was around four hours. The locker room and showers could use a remodel, but they were adequate. If I return to Pattaya, I will hit this course again. Recommended.

Challenging course

Layout is very challenging with a up and down fairway. Long distance with 2 par six holes. It is time to moderate the club house.

bad condition and very bad service!!

on the first day, we were told that there were no cars or caddies even though we had paid in advance. On the second day, our caddies were taken away on the first green and replaced by a beginner!! Never going there again!!

The Par 6 is fun

Condition is fair. - Just love the par 6. 750Y seems very long but in fact, it is achievable. - Maybe I played on Sunday, lots of players and a bit of "traffic jam"

Unforgettable and beautiful course

Although the club house and facilities do show signs of age, they were overshadowed by the enjoyment I spent on the course. Tees to greens were in very good acceptable playing conditions. Love the scenic view and unique character of each hole offered thrills and challenges for every shot. This makes the course a difficult on to forget.
