Pattaya Country Club Golf Resort has recently re-opened after a lengthy closure and has been extensively renovated. Not the most exciting course in Pattaya but one of the closest to the town and ideal for high handicappers and those trying to stretch their budget.
In the hills behind Pattaya, conveniently located just off the main Pattaya-Rayong motorway, bordered by pineapple and palm plantations lies the upgraded Pattaya Country Club.
An interesting layout with split fairways and some cleverly located bunkers but not too much water to spoil your card.
The front nine are pretty straightforward and it is not until your reach the 9th which is a long uphill par-4 and rated the most difficult on the course that things start to get interesting and could lead to a dropped shot.
The back nine is much more interesting with several water hazards in play. Hole 11 is a particularly interesting and challenging par-5 with several bunkers to negotiate and a stream which crosses in front of the raised green.
They have recently completed a brand new clubhouse with state-of-the-art facilities.
This course has a good layout with receptive greens on good approach shots. However the condition is way under par compared to other courses in the area. The pace of play is a joke. I booked a late tee time @ 12:40 in hope of a swift round of golf. I could not be more wrong. I used 5 -FIVE- hours to complete the round. The caddies are not trained properly, when you are about to take your tee-shot, you can rest assure that the group behind you will drive right up to you without thinking about the golfer who is about to take a shot. I really hope the management will sort this out as the course has potential.
A course that has improved a lot since it upgraded the course and added a new clubhouse. When I played it was very crowded – maybe time to add another nine holes! Most of the players seemed to be Korean – often playing in groups of five. They have little idea of golf etiquette and the marshals did nothing to help the situation and speed up play. They need to manage the problem otherwise golfers will shy away from this course.
Played here with a group of friends. Course layout is fine and some of the holes are good fun. The speed of the greens varies from hole-to-hole which made putting difficult. Not too much grass on the fairways which made irons shows difficult but at least you got plenty of roll. Staff were polite but service in clubhouse was very slow and needs improving.
I have played here many time over the years and it’s good to see the improvements they have made. It’s now fully open including a new clubhouse. The fairways are nice and wide but the greens are far too slow and hopefully this will improve as the greens mature. The staff are friendly enough and the food in the new restaurant was excellent.
The course has been renovated and they have built a massive new clubhouse. A pretty easy course and not much in the way of hazards for the better golfer. Greens very slows and fairways pretty bare and it will need time to mature. I felt it was overpriced when compared to similar courses and you can get better value elsewhere.
