Bangpra International Golf Club

Holes 18 | Par 72 | Length 6771 m / 7405 y | Type Parkland | Architect Japan Golf Promotion Co., Ltd.

Bangpra International Golf Club is one of the older golf courses in the Pattaya area, built in 1958 and updated in the late 80s and still able to compete with some of the newer course thanks to the mature trees which stand as a testament to the longevity of the course. The course has been built in the very attractive hills surrounding Sri Racha following the natural folds of the inclines and this wonderful setting makes a round here very enjoyable despite the simplicity of the layout.

The course is best remembered for its long par 3’s – all of which are more than 180 yards from the blue tees and the 17th is particularly daunting as it plays more than 200 yards with water most of the way to the green.  The par 5’s are also long and on the front 9 the par 5, 5th has a green partially protected by a water hazard so you need to be in the right position for your approach to the green.  The par 5, 7th is the longest hole on the course measuring 623 from the back tees but fortunately most of it is downhill so it’s just about reachable in regulation for most of us.

The back nine is a bit of a let-down after the front nine and is much flatter with wide open fairways with only light rough along the edges.  However this doesn’t mean that you will score well as there are a number of difficult holes. These include the two par 3s, the 12th and the 17th which demand long tee shots over water.  The stretch of holes form the 12th also involve water carries to often elevated greens which due to their shape tend to throw balls off into the surrounding swales.  Nice easy finishing hole with a wide open fairway which should mean you are in good spirits as you end you round.

Unusually the excellent clubhouse offers Japanese-style baths and Japanese cuisine in the restaurant so if your round has not gone according to plan then you can relax and enjoy a great meal.

We thoroughly recommend this course which despite its age still compares favourably with some of the newer layouts and remains a firm favourite of golfers in Pattaya.

Bangpra International Golf Club - Course Reviews

"Good course but watch out for the monkeys!"

Reviewed by Eric; on 18 Jan 2016
Always a good course to play but when the greens are so slow it makes it hard to keep your ball online. With wide open fairways this is an ideal courses for long hitters. Can be slow with many many 5 balls blocking your way and impossible to get through so best if you make up your own 4 or 5 ball.. No marshalls to be seen anywhere and the caddies seemed more interested in the monkeys than the golfers. You need to watch out for your valuables and indeed anything else because the monkeys steal everything.
