Architect Peter Thompson
Rayong Green Valley Country Club in Pattaya is one of the very popular courses in the St Andrews 2000 family designed by Peter Thomson to cater to players of all standards. This attractive and beautifully landscaped course is a delight to play.
The designer has made the best use of the original shape of the land so you will be forced to pick your way around boulders, past rocky outcrops and to cope with the uneven lies. They have also thrown in many man-made obstacles as well in the shape of fairway bunkers expertly positioned to capture the wayward drive, plenty of water and some tricky two-tier greens.
You may be somewhat downcast after the opening hole as its one of the most difficult with a long carry over water from the tee followed by a long uphill approach to a smallish green. However do not despair as the course becomes a little easier after that providing you do not let the wonderful views distract you from your shot making.
Do try one of the three restaurants in the excellent clubhouse.
Tee Times at Rayong Green Valley Country Club
This is a very busy course so expect delays at the weekends and you can often notice a bit of wear and tear on the tee boxes and around the greens due to the heavy traffic.
This is one of two golf courses attached to the same clubhouse. The clubhouse is mediocre compared to other venues in the area. The layout suits beginners to avid golfers with extremely receptive greens on good approaches. Hit it well and you will be rewarded with a short putt, hit it bad and you are looking at undulatiing 50-100 feet monster puts. The condition of the course is under par as of July 2016. The greens are patchy and unfortunately the speed varies. The pace of play could be much better. I used about 4 hours playing as a single golfer. With better overall conditions on the course, I would gladly return.
We really struggled to find anything positive to say about this course which at the time we played was being prepared for an event. The fairways were badly maintained but at least they were green. The greens were uneven and patchy and there was rubbish lying around in the rough. The service in the clubhouse was bad and the food even worse. To end a perfect day I cut my foot on the broken tiles in the swimming pool! We will not be returning here.
I am a member here and I think its a great layout designed by Peter Thompson. Best thing about the course are the caddies who are very friendly and really know the course. There are two other courses attached to the same clubhouse
We played here on a recent trip and we thought it was an excellent complex. Good choice of restaurants in the clubhouse, the course was good fun and was in good condition when we played it. Some interesting and challenging holes but most golfers should be able to cope with it. Caddies were excellent.
