Nestled among the rolling hills of Rayong, Barcelona Valley Golf Club's Mountain Course (formerly Silky Oak Country Club) offers a scenic and enjoyable round that combines wide fairways with dramatic elevation changes. While forgiving from the tee, strategically placed water hazards and undulating greens provide enough challenge to keep golfers of all abilities engaged. Surrounded by panoramic mountain views, it is one of the best value-for-money golf experiences in the Pattaya region.

Barcelona Valley Golf Club, Mountain Course is a standard par-72 layout in a great setting with panoramic views of the surrounding hills from most parts of the course and especially from the elevated position of the halfway house. The course has nice wide fairways which will accommodate all but the very wild tee shot but you will encounter some uneven lies and the areas around the smallish greens are full of bumps and hollows which will severely test your short game.

Quite a few of the holes involve water carries off the tee or on your approach to the green but apart from that and the occasional pot bunker there is not too much to impeded your progress as the trees don’t really come into play.

The clubhouse and other facilities are fine but not exceptional and include a Japanese restaurant plus a range of other dishes Asian and Western delicacies. Other facilities include a swimming pool, karaoke room and massage. One thing to note is that it takes at least a 10 minutes to drive to the first tee so don’t arrive late at the clubhouse.

Silky Oak is a poorly managed course.

Rather bad experience of a central organization for three courses in one reception. The staff (reception, starter and caddie, et al) spoke very little English, which made communication difficult. Basically, the caddie did whatever she wanted, e.g. she always pushed the flight in front to let me pass but I did not want to rush as I was on holiday here. The caddie skipped hole 13 without talking to me at all and only came back to play that hole before we headed back to the clubhouse. Throughout the game, the caddie was long-faced. Construction sites of houses spread along the course in many holes. Many tee boxes are desert-like. Fairways are full of overgrown unwanted grasses. Greens are rough and bumpy. Cartways are muddy and rubbish, mostly empty bottles, are seen everywhere. Do not recommend it to anyone.

Beautiful course

A really nice course with true greens and good caddies. I’d played here years ago but didn’t realise until the end as I think they have altered the place somewhat. I recommend this one.

Some holes are challenging

Maybe this course suffered a lot from the rains, I had to play 'winter rules'. The greens were very hard and impossible to read because of the mix of yellow and green grass. The course is far from the clubhouse. The road towards it leads through a construction area.

Nice layout, fairways are less good, but around and on green good.

Fairways are brown, greens and areas around greens are good. Difficult to get elevation from the fairways. Nice layout. Green Valley, St Adrwes and Silky Oak will be closed from today until Nov. 1st.

Caddies very a pluss. Not easy to communicate with any Staff in English.

Like the layout but the course was very very dry. Not easy playing touchy pitches and chips. Not Custom down here to let any one play thru. But that's normal.
