The Pine Lodge and Golf is a boutique golf resort with 27 rooms that are perfectly set with in the local countryside, creating an ambience that is unique to the area. Golfers will be delighted by the amount of local wildlife that can be seen as you make your way around the Pine Lodge course, which offers some beautiful views of the surrounding countryside.

Opened in 2005 it has quickly gained a reputation as being a great value golf course in comparison to other courses in the region. The green fee cost is low which makes it appealing to people, especially travellers who do not mind travelling a little further afield to achieve the best priced green fees.

A caddy service is available for an extremely competitive price and with various buggy and caddy deals available it is well worth paying a little extra for the cauldron of local knowledge that the caddies possess.

Designed by course architects V- Entertain the course offers generous fairways and greens which are framed by large bunkers and water hazards.

In most cases the water hazards are more decorative that strategically placed and should rarely trouble golfers, but don´t let this fool you into thinking you are in for an easy ride. When the obstacles do rear their ugly heads, the challenge is tough.

One of these such challenges appears at the third. A par four that doglegs left around the large lake requiring a straight drive and a well struck second to avoid trouble.

The par threes also require carries over an expanse of water, which as with so many of the courses in Thailand seems to be the nor.

At 6917 yards, it is not as long as many Thai courses, which to the visiting golfer can be a reprieve from the championship courses here. A par of 72 offers a good mix of long and short holes, under all the par ratings.

As with most Thai courses there are various tee platforms that offer a variation of distance and challenge related to your ability.

The final two holes offer possibly the most challenging run of holes, with a tough carry over water required to find the putting surface on the 17th, whilst the strategy of the final hole is dictated by the water throughout the entire length of the hole.

Finishing par – par here is not a straightforward task.

The clubhouse offers a good selection of food options but is not as grand nor immense as many Thai clubhouses. Simple it may be, with slight old-fashioned interior designs, but golfers can get everything they need after a round here.

Round times are generally good, as the course is one of the less crowded in the Bangkok region which is a bonus for many golfers used to quick play.

Pie Lodge will not be the top of the list for many golfers, but the added value and quiet golf course will appeal to many visiting golfers.

Get down and have a look at this course, you will not leave disappointed.

The Pine Golf and Lodge

Average condition but good value for money

It takes about an hour to get here from the center of Bangkok and when I was there is was packed out with Japanese & Koreans. It plays quite long, even from the white tees. The fairways are not in great condition and the greens were patchy and the ball did not roll very well. However, it’s one of the cheapest courses in the Bangkok area so offers good value if you are not a very serious golfer.
