Aquella Golf Resort and Country Club is situated overlooking the Andaman Sea at Thai Muang Beach, 40 minutes north of Phuket Airport. The 177-hectare development of the site includes a complete redesign and rebuild the of the former Thai Muang Golf Club as well as villas and a hotel. Work on the new course began in 2018, and the work was undertaken by Pacific Coast Design from Australia and is scheduled to open in 2020.

Some of the new holes follow the orginal layout but have been completely rebuilt and everywhere the designer has added a deep layer of sand to ensure that the course drains well even after heavy rain.The course meanders across the gently rolling terrain and sometimes ventures in the Casuarina trees which line the beach. The course has been designed as a resort course so will be playable for golfers of all standards

The 11th which is a 186-yard par-three is the new signature hole. Here golfers tee off towards the Andaman Sea and the beach front. Depending on which tee you use gives you a completely different perspective and challenge

The contemporary clubhouse restaurant overlooks the golf course and looks out across the Andaman Sea.

The course is in excellent shape but since it is very new the trees and landscape are still young. There are still very few people so that we were through in less than 3 hours.

Great course somewhat forgiving

My first impression of the course were very nice club house. Practice facilities were good. Very professional staff. The course itself is quite a young course and over time will definitely improve. The course is very flat and quite forgiving with quite open fairways. I would say it is definitely worth a visit but if like us you have over an hour journey to get there I wouldn’t necessarily rush back as there were better options closer to where we were. I’m saying that I’m pleased we played it and we had a very enjoyable morning of golf.

The course is 2 years old & in amazing order consider all the rain they have had. Well drained. Tricky Course with creeks crossing fairways before greens. A fun & testing experience.

Well presented but greens showing distress

This a very nice course, well presented but several greens on the back nine were showing signs of distress and were partly sanded. The layout is a little repetitive on the front nine but more interesting on the back nine. Overall worth playing, but is it worth the one-hour drive from Phuket? For variation, yes – but I wouldn't call it a "must play". Just a nice track that needs another 5 years to mature.

What a wonderful day play at Aquella

Beautiful course, very good service, facilities attention to details. Even have to spend at least 1.5 hours on the traveling time, still willing to go there again.
