At 7502 yards from the Championship tees, the par 72 course is long and is a complete test of a golfer’s game, with the need to use all the clubs in the bag, a testament to the challenge the Singha Park Khon Kaen poses is the honour of being the host of the Asian Tour Kings Cup 2009 until 2016.
The 18 holes meander through the 9 large lakes, that come into play on almost every single hole, making this a very strategic golf course, requiring accuracy and nerve to keep your ball in play.
Although extremely challenging from the Championship tees, the course is a little more friendly from one of the two forward tee options, opening up the course to almost every level of golfer.
Variety in the holes is a real bonus with this course, creating a varied and enjoyable mix of holes.
Singha Park really doesn´t have any poor holes, all offer great challenges and beautiful backdrops, but as with all world class courses, it does have a couple of spectacular holes that for one reason or another will remain in the memory for years to come.
The par 3 13th is a true standout hole in every sense. Off the championship tees it measures a monster 228 yards, which is not the longest on the course, requiring a well struck shot over the water that stretches down the right of the hole. Walk away with a bogey here, and often it will feel like a par.
For longer hitters the par 5 7th, offers the perfect example of risk and reward. At 529 yards from the forward men’s tees it offers a chance of birdie, but the hole is not rated as the hardest hole for no reason. A small, well-protected landing area requires accuracy from the tee and those that will be tempted into taking on the green will be faced with a frightening shot to a small well protected green.
Only the 10th doesn´t have water that comes into, but do not let that fool you into thinking it is easy. A wide fairway that narrows into a small landing area is the first challenge. But the real task on this hole is the approach to the heavily guarded green.
This is a must play golf course.
