Navatanee Golf Course in Bangkok is a very exclusive golf club with easy access from the centre of Bangkok which once hosted the World Cup of Golf. It still offers a challenging test even for the better golfers but will still provide enjoyment for higher handicappers. Its a lovely old parkland course in superb condition with lots of mature trees lining the fairways which makes for a nice change from the highly manicured modern courses. This made our list of best in Bangkok.

Built by world-renowned course designer Robert Trent Jones Jr. ,Navatanee Golf Course is a world-class championship golf course and was the first golf courses in Asia that he designed. As well as being an exclusive private members club it is also one of the oldest courses in Bangkok which means that most of the fairways and the lush greens are bordered with beautiful mature trees and colourful local plants which offers a real escape from the noise and pollution of Bangkok.

The signature hole is the 6th which is a very long and difficult 445 yards par-4 that demands a long and straight tee shot to have any chance of reaching the green in two but be careful as water guards the left side of the fairway with yet another pond protecting the green.

The 9th hole is another long par-5 with water protecting the left side but if you decide to play safe and stray too far right then you are faced with a very long second shot across the water – if you are long enough and end up in the right position on the fairway then it is possible to reach the green in two.

The 13th is another testing par-5 with bunkers strategically placed along the right side of the fairway and you will need to flirt with them if you want to have any chance of getting up in two on the heavily guarded green.

Navatanee Golf Course is a private members club and one of the most expensive golf clubs in Bangkok so it is usually pretty empty, especially on week days so you will certainly complete your round inside 4 hours.

Nice course, not much golfer in the morning so can take your time and enjoy every hole. Layout is quite good for both rookies and professionals.

"Wonderful mature course but some maintenance issues"

An attractive course with many mature trees and some water hazards but you can play around most of them. The greens were not good – lots of bald patches and a similar story on the fairways. In some places the cart paths were broken and the carts looked as though they had seen better days. Modern locker rooms but slightly old-fashioned look to the restaurant. A good course but definitely looks its age

When we played it was on a weekday with hardly anyone on the course. Be warned that they do not accept credit cards - cash only. It’s a pretty friendly course with not too much water around but the course was not in great condition although the greens were fine. One of the more expensive courses in Bangkok.
