Designed as an oasis in the desert, Al Badia makes use of the many water features, rivers of sand and local plants to create a visually stunning golf course to add to the wealth and quality of the Dubai golfing map.

The absolutely stunning clubhouse immediately makes you aware of just how dedicated to the deliverance of high standards and excellent service to all guests that wish to enjoy any of the four restaurants and the superb facilities that are offered by the clubhouse.

The course does not disappoint, and without doubt has some of the most visually impacting golf holes of any of the golf courses in Dubai.

The quality of the holes is superb, but some of the most iconic and difficult holes have to be the 2nd, 5th, 6th, 9th, 11th and 18th holes. The many lakes and water features all play a huge part in the play of each the holes I mentioned and add to the aesthetically pleasing nature of them.

The 2nd hole makes you decide from the tee how you are going to play the hole, take on the lake from the tee to leave a simpler approach to the shallow green. Play away from the lake and you will bring the meandering stream on the approach.

The hardest hole on the course is the par 5, fifth. It is a genuine 3 shot par 5 which requires accuracy from the tee. The fairway is well protected with a complex of bunkers on one side and the lake on the other. The 2nd shot should be played over the stream which splits the fairway in two. The small green is well protected by the lake on the left, with the smart play being up the right. A shot slightly left will fee down towards the lake.

The 6th is another par 4 that gives you a dilemma from the tee. Take on the lake to set up a really good birdie chance, or play right which will leave a treacherous approach into the green.

The 9th is a great way to finish the front 9 and gives splendid views of the clubhouse and waterfalls. The tee shot is relatively straight forward, but it is the second shot that makes this hole difficult. The green which is flanked by the beautiful cascading waterfalls is trickier that you think and plays a lot longer. Take an extra club

The best of the par 3s has to be the 11th. Set amongst the waterfalls, the hole is visually appealing, but fraught with danger. The tee shot must be hit over the lake protecting the front and left of the hole, requiring accuracy and nerve.

The final hole, as with many of the finishing holes in Dubai is spectacular. The signature hole of Al Badia presents you with a chance of hitting the green in two. From the tee you have to avoid the pot bunker, which would leave a long iron or fairway wood approach to a green heavily guarded by water left and bunkers right.

The view as you stand on the tee gives you an insight into the growth and sheer size of Dubai and reminds you of the luxury of the resorts that are abundant in the Dubai region.
