Springfield Royal Country Club is one of our favourite golf courses in Hua Hin. A little further out of town than some of the other courses but can be easily reached within 30 minutes. As you would expect from a course designed by the legendary Jack Nicklaus there are plenty of traps in the shape of bunkers and water hazards strategically placed to catch that fade or slice off the tee.

Springfield Royal Country Club is a very mature course and some of the holes are wide open and almost links-style and others wind their way between the mature trees and local plant life. The owners have been careful to implement a design approach that would not only preserve the natural wildlife but also to enhance it. As a result you will find more than 100 species of birds as you make your way around the course.

Springfield added another 9 holes in 2005 designed by the renowned team of golf course architects Lee Schmidt and Brain Curley. These nine are quite different to the original layout designed by Nicklaus 18 and are probably more challenging than the original course.

There are five sets of tees to choose from so the course is set up for players of all standards and if you enjoy the challenge of playing from the back tees then be prepared for some long carries off the tee and for your approach to the lush greens.

After a relatively simple opening tee shot you are faced with a long approach and you then realise that you have to keep your wits about you if you are to score well. So many of the greens are protected by bunkers and as a result some of the pin positions are very difficult to attack. Our favourite hole is the 18th which is actually a relatively short par 5 but you have to drive between the trees and then pick your spot on the narrow fairway to give you a chance of reaching the island green in regulation.

Springfield Royal offers excellent facilities once you get off the course. The club house sits in an elevated position with some views over parts of the course. Excellent changing rooms, a well-stocked pro-shop and an excellent selection of food and drink adds to the enjoyment of playing at Springfield. Nice course in stunning nature

Mostly not overcrowded and easy-going, well-maintained course with a lot of varieties, water, and bunker hazards. Nice caddy at this day. During daytime without clouds very sunny an hot, as there are no big trees.....Overpriced beer at the restaurant (145 Baht for a small beer)

Every round a new experience....

I reviewed the course already two times, a beautiful, well maintained cours in an astonishing envirement....but there were two facts I didn't understand: 1. Drinking a small beer for 145 Baht, that's an amazing high price. Normally i'm generous with tips and don't care some prices, but paying inclusive a tip was 160 Baht. Looking at the bill it was not correct: Beer 120.- +Service charge 12.- +VAT 9,24.-, total 141.25 Baht. But I was called the price of 145 Baht. First the prize of the beer might be very high, moreover handling of paying was not correct by the waiter. 2. The price for a taxi to the course from Hua Hin is okay, but to get back is more difficult. If you ask at the reception, they will call you a taxi for 700 Baht, and that's quite expensive. In this way this course might be more expensive then Black Mountain. If you choose another very good company in Hua Hin they charge 500 VBaht and that's okay. For these two facts i felt scammed on this day......

Lake course is nice with challenges. Valley course is so so not much fun

Total 27 holes. Lake course is nice with little challenges. Valley course is flat and just have some tree in the middle & many bunkers. All very long par 3.

The course was not as good as I expected, everything else was good

The course I expected it to be in better condition, the long fairway bunkers were rock hard and I expected the greens to be in a better condition

Great scenery, interesting course

The whole course is in good condition, interesting and changing designs, friendly staff and caddies. Pace of play was extremely slow by a 4-flight, so there was a lot of time to talk with nice flight partner and learn Thai with caddies.
