Due to its long history, the course is lined with fully mature trees unlike many of the more recently built course which gives the course great character. The fairways are usually pretty hard and often interspersed with weeds and bald patches but this will give you plenty of run on the ball. The greens are very slow but true and at times tough to read. There are some great views from some of the more elevated tee boxes and a Thai Temple provides the backdrop to the par-3 14th.
As you approach the club you will pass by the very ornate railways station which was often used by the Royal family as they visited their summer palaces in Hua Hin.
Probably the best hole is the last on the front nine which is a par 4 which takes you downhill towards the clubhouse. You have to drive across a waste area and at the same time avoid two large bushes which block your way. If you can navigate these hazards you are faced with a relatively simple approach to the green.
If you can ignore the wear and tear then it’s very playable and certainly worth a round to soak up some of the history of this grand old lady.

Checking in was rather time consuming. As single on every other club I've played they've really helped to pair me with someone. Unfortunately the starter decided this day to let clients find for themselves. I ended up managing to 10 tp 18 first then 1 to 9... The greens were ok however needed a bit of maintaining here and there.
Good course, great place to warm up your game with wide, generous fairways and greens that aren't too punishing.

Hello we had heard that the condition of the course was very good. We were very dissatisfied with the condition of the track now.
doesn't seem like they cut the fairways for a long time. we paid 1400 thb each through you and they had discounted it to 1000 now including food and drink.
Easy access, experienced caddie, good layout course where you can beat your handicap! I enjoyed the Royal course, oldest one in Thailand, with very easy access from Hua Hin Hotels, you can even use the green line TukTuk. Good layout, well-irrigated, with wide, forgiving fairways and NO water hazards! Played with the same ball for the whole game. My 33-year-old caddie Ying, was extremely helpful at reading the greens and club selection, after the third hole, she handed me my clubs without asking and was right each time. We walked the course and there were option to buy refreshments every 3 holes. Around the 13th hole, a bunch of monkeys were playing around. The only negative thing was my left handed rental set, mix match of old Titleist Irons, Odissey putter, and old YYonex Woods and driver, and 800 BTH, if you go bring your own or rent somewhere else. Overall very happy with my round at the Royal course and will go again with better clubs.
A nice course in good condition. Liked the fact that almost every 3rd hole was chance to buy drinks.
Negative is that lockers are not open for guests. Caddie was a bit too rushed - 18 holes in 2 hours 15 minutes is for me way too fast.
