Black Mountain Golf Club

Holes 27 | Par 72 | Length 6903 m / 7549 y | Type Parkland | Architect Notlöv & Edfors

Black Mountain Golf Club features 27-holes of breathtaking, championship-standard golf and regularly ranks as one of the top 100 courses in the world. The host of multiple Asian PGA events, the course is set amidst stunning mountains, natural creeks and contours carved by nature; it’s a beautiful area for a really challenging game of golf.

While Black Mountain Golf Club was designed to test professional players in mind, five tee boxes mean the challenge can be tailored to players of all abilities. The impeccably-maintained Seashore Paspalum fairways are actually more generous for the shorter drive, tending to narrow further down where Tiger would be landing his ball.

When it comes to the blind holes and severe dog-legs however, you might find yourself paying for an overly conservative approach off the tee. The greens are comfortably large but generally well protected by water and superbly sculpted bunkers.

All three nines (the original East and North Courses were supplemented by a third nine, the West Course, in 2016) feature some truly memorable holes. At the par-5 2nd on the East Course, water threatens three times, with a drive over a waterway, a lake intruding into the fairway, and another water carry on approach into a green guarded by two massive sand traps.

Over-rated

Reviewed by ; on
The original North course was closed for renovations when I played there in early March 2019. East course was nice - hilly tough to walk but possible. The new West course was disappointing with half of it surrounded by very close-by condo or villa units. Locker facilities were average. If we didn’t pay so much, I would be happy. Felt it was over rated especially after the hype we heard about it. But it still a must-play course at least once in Hua Hin.

An enjoyable round but I came away with the feeling that it is a bit overpriced and immature

Reviewed by ; on
Expectations were high because the course advertised itself as one of the top 100 courses in the world... turns out it is a pretty good one but definitely not worthy of the top 100 hype... the facilities, greens, fairways and people were, well, good enough.

Fantastic course but so slow

Reviewed by ; on
Cant fault the course. 5 star all the way from clubhouse to condiriin of course. Its also a challenging course with some great holes. Easy to see why they have held so many top competitions. Only fault is that it was so slow. We waited on EVERY shot! If you are paying top dollar this should not be the case.

Lives up to its reputation

Not much to add to the plaudits heaped on this course. Apparently named 59th best course in the world by some organisation or other and I believe it. Only reservation is pace of play, where we had to wait on every hole after the first couple of opening holes.
