Desaru Coast golf courses

Malaysia is a popular tourist destination, with many people choosing to visit for the beaches and culture.  Golf is fast becoming another great reason to visit the country and the town of Desaru is home to the Els Club, one of the top golf clubs in Malaysia.

Desaru is a coastal resort town in Pengerang, Kota Tinggi District, Johor.  Despite being central to a tourism boom in the 1980’s, the town is geared for the locals and resembles a true Malay resort.  You will not find any big restaurants or major night life, there isn’t even a public transport network and that’s what makes Desaru an attraction for many people.

To reach Desaru for a golf holiday, you can fly to Singapore and make the 100 kilometre journey east into Malaysia using a bus or hire car.  From Johor Bahru you can take the bus or hire a care and the journey time is approximately 1 hour 15 minutes.

While not the easiest place to find, you are rewarded with a white sandy beach, lovely climate and a tropical fruit farm.  There is also a choice of good mid-range hotels, if you wish to stay in the area over night.

Perhaps the number one reason why people choose to visit Desaru is for the Els Club Desaru Coast Golf Club.  Here you will find two excellent golf courses, with the Valley Course having been designed by Ernie Els and Vijay Singh.  The Ocean Course was the first to open at the Els Club and is a remarkable design.  You will enjoy every minute of your time on the fairways at Els Club Desaru Coast.
