Founded in 1971, Chitose Airport Country Club, is ideally located next to the Chitose Airport, offering great transport links for visiting golfers.

Chitose Airport Country Club boasts 27-holes of championship golf, designed by Japanese architect Nakamura and he has done a wonderful job incorporating the natural environment into his design, whilst still creating three distinctive loops of 9-holes which all merge perfectly when placed together.

Gently undulating throughout, Nakamura has included the natural Swan lake into the design which adds both to the challenge and the aesthetic beauty of the courses.

Couple this with the spectacular views of Mount Tarumae, a volcano, and you have a golf course that just keeps on giving.

The Hakchoi course, (translated to Swan in English) enjoys tree lined fairways, perfectly positioned water hazards, smart bunkering and wonderful greens. Undulating across the landscape it is a challenging test of golf.

The Sekirei course (translated to Wagtail in English) follow the same intricacy of the design. Longer than the Hakchoi course, the Sekirei course is surrounded by the native woodland, giving the feel of being alone on the golf course. It is a fun layout that will live long in the memory.

Finally, the Oshidori course (translated to Lovebird in English) is a more strategic course, which requires accurate and well considered tee-shots, leaving the ideal line from which to approach the small, well-protected greens. Much like the Sekirei and Hakchoi courses the Oshidori is protected by water hazards, large trees and bunkers.

If you were to play just 18-holes here at the Chitose Airport Country Club the choice is a difficult one, to be honest it is worth grabbing an early tee time and playing all three courses, to really appreciate the superb layout of each.

A unique clubhouse design is pleasing on the eye and although modern seems to blend perfectly with the natural surroundings.

Housing the locker rooms, swimming pool, well-stocked pro-shop and the restaurant and terrace the clubhouse has everything you could need before or after your round.

The food served is freshly prepared, with a varied menu featuring both local and international cuisine.

Chitose Country Club is a must visit complex if you are ever in the region, maintained to incredible standards throughout the year, it really is a delight to play and the inviting welcome you receive from the staff makes the experience all the more unforgettable.

Nice course - Fast Greens

Course in good condition but with trees lining both sides of fairway you need to be accurate - greens were deceptively fast. Nice food in clubhouse
