Black Mountain Golf Club

Holes 27 | Par 72 | Length 6903 m / 7549 y | Type Parkland | Architect Notlöv & Edfors

Black Mountain Golf Club features 27-holes of breathtaking, championship-standard golf and regularly ranks as one of the top 100 courses in the world. The host of multiple Asian PGA events, the course is set amidst stunning mountains, natural creeks and contours carved by nature; it’s a beautiful area for a really challenging game of golf.

While Black Mountain Golf Club was designed to test professional players in mind, five tee boxes mean the challenge can be tailored to players of all abilities. The impeccably-maintained Seashore Paspalum fairways are actually more generous for the shorter drive, tending to narrow further down where Tiger would be landing his ball.

When it comes to the blind holes and severe dog-legs however, you might find yourself paying for an overly conservative approach off the tee. The greens are comfortably large but generally well protected by water and superbly sculpted bunkers.

All three nines (the original East and North Courses were supplemented by a third nine, the West Course, in 2016) feature some truly memorable holes. At the par-5 2nd on the East Course, water threatens three times, with a drive over a waterway, a lake intruding into the fairway, and another water carry on approach into a green guarded by two massive sand traps.

Nice course layout

Reviewed by ; on
Played the course 14 days ago as well, conditions did not really improve. Lots of brown and nin grass areas. greens atill in very good condition. If you play preferred lies on the fairways is playing nice if not you can get some nasty lies which should not be the case on a “world class” course. Seems to me the water shortage issue should have been addressed more adequate, if possible that is. Hope it will return soon to its usual standaard.

always a great and special Championship Course - but it really needs water

Reviewed by ; on
As everybody knows, it is an awesome course. The lack of water makes the fairways now grey and brown. I really hope that the guys around Black Mountain will have rain soon. - hopefully the next days... The greens and around the greens is still great.

The issues with the dry fairways affects our review of the course

Reviewed by ; on
We have played the course before & loved it. However, unfortunately the fairways are not in good condition currently. Understand that it has been very dry recently but discussing the issues with the staff they do not have full irrigation on the fairways. Consequently the hot weather has affected the fairways with many dry patches & brown areas with no grass. This definitely impacted our experience & compared to other courses in the area I think detracts from the usual positive experience playing Black Mountain. We'll go back but would want to know the course condition before playing again.

Must've been a long dry season

Reviewed by ; on
Fairways were very dry and patchy, and greens quick but consistent which was fun. All caddies very good and knowledgeable. One caddie apologized for course condition due to no rain, which was obvious when most water hazards were less than quarter full. Will play again but only after wet season so it's lush green. Only played 1 other course in area RHH and it was in very good condition for such a long dry season
