One of the many great aspects of playing golf in Japan is the various locations you visit in the country.  Yokawa Country Club is located in Miki, which is a city in the Hyogo Prefecture of Japan.

The closest major city to Miki and Yokawa Country Club is Kobe and it takes just 45 minutes to reach the golf course from the city centre.  Kobe Airport only handles domestic flights but it is possible to fly to Tokyo or Osaka from international destinations and make the short trip from there.

Yokawa Country Club is an 18-hole, par-72 golf course.  It plays to 7,550 yards from the back tees, which is a considerable length and makes it one of the longest golf courses in Japan.  However, there are a selection of tee boxes on each hole, with a total of four options which can reduce the yardage down to 5,869 yards if required.

The parkland style course features water and this comes into play on several holes but should not prove to be a major issue for most players.  Much of the water around the greens, such as the 5th, 8th and 13th holes is at the back of the green and there is little in the way of water protection in-front of the greens.

This is good news for those who like to play attacking golf and it gets even better thanks to the wide fairways at Yokawa Country Club.  You will find the fairways are generous throughout and it is very tempting to pull out the driver on every par-4 and par-5 hole.  The width of the fairways makes the distance more manageable from the championship tees.

However, Yokawa Country Club has been set up to challenge players strategically.  The greens may not be protected by water but there is plenty of sand to contend with and there are many bunkers throughout the 18 holes.

Much of the bunkering can be found around the greens and the third hole is a great example.  The green is protected by a bunker to the front-right, one to the left and one to the back of the green.  The 10th hole has five bunkers surrounding the green and anything which misses the putting surface has a high chance of landing in the sand.

You must consider where you want to leave the ball on the fairway to give yourself the best angle of approach to each green and that’s the beauty of playing at Yokawa Country Club.

Additional facilities include a driving range and clubhouse with a restaurant.  The clubhouse serves a range of delicious Western and Japanese cuisine and is a nice place to relax following a great round of golf at Yokawa Country Club.

Yokawa Country Club

Nice course as long as you don't hook!

Most of the fairways had OB down the left with the right side safe so ideal course if you slice! The caddie was quite young for Japan but very good. The green was quite fast and difficult, and the number of putts was over 40. The food at the restaurant was delicious.
